"Different day same excuses"

About: Wellfield Health Centre

As a family where many of us work in the NHS ourselves it’s really disappointing to receive poor patient care in areas that are frustratingly easy to fix.I know the strain Corona has had on the whole NHS as well as patients but many problems me and my family have encountered are nothing to do with the pandemic.I would like to say that there are some good GPS & Nurses & the receptionist is lovely which makes it all the worse when you get the flip side of a GP so miserable that you want to swap seats.A good bedside manner is not tough to have but this GP makes you feel like you are a naughty child.I asked for a holiday supply of my regular pills and I felt like I was being interrogated,Met with suspicion and had done something wrong.Even with a mask their voice language eye rolling made me want to ask why they is a GP if the job was good where it not for the patients. I left so very cross. My elderly mother has the same experience and we have both tried requesting another GP but it is to hard to get an appointment for any doctor.I know they only do same day appointments but it is not practical if you are a working person to keep trying and it be engaged or then if lucky you have messages that go on and on and on. It’s like the news headlines then you are in a long queue and when you do get to talk to someone there’s non left so you are told to try later or tomorrow at 8am.My boss doesn’t allow me to be on my phone outside of break so I am stuck. It needs to be looked at again with those who work thought of as well as those who dont.I know that everyone has great pressure and stress but for all the times I get a good handling I get 2 disappointing ones. These are easy to fix such as the call handlers listening to me before interrupting and telling me why I am ringing. They also need to stop second guessing things after you’ve spoken to them,I mean if I order my mums pills that may be on monthly or three monthly I don’t want the call handler to amend my order as they have presumed the wrong thing. My mum has ran out of pills twice due to this and if things are then rejected no one tells you until you await your regular delivery and it’s short, you then ring the chemist then back to the surgery then it’s 48Hrs to wait. You can also hear staff discussing patients in not nice terms as background noise sometimes or the call handler doesn’t replace the receiver properly and you can hear them say it’s this guy again.its unprofessional.

I know corona has beaten us all down but before the disease the same staff were very difficult.I don’t want a false smile but sometimes they are so visibly fed up and you are spoken to as if I am difficult when it may only be simple request. You can be in the company of them walking about near you and there’s no eye contact or smile and you are rejected if you ask a question.i want to end positive so the nurses and most DRs are good and the building is clean.i hope they read the comments and act as I am fair I like Wellfield

Dear patient, I can see that we did not respond to your comment directly. I am very sorry that you were dissatisfied with the practice at that time, and I hope that since then your contact with the practice has been more positive. However, if you would like to discuss any of these concerns further please do not hesitate to contact me at the practice. Kind regards, Jenny
