I attended Whitley house today for my first Covid-19 vaccination. The whole experience was a good one. There were good procedures in place with plenty of staff directing you at every stage. There was an upbeat positive feel about the whole experience. I was being vaccinated in the 50-55 category and appreciate that every category would be different. We would have presented far fewer challenges than when the elderly or clinically extremely vulnerable were being vaccinated. Although there was a queue outside when I first arrived, it moved quickly. Once inside it was so fast paced, I was literally running down the corridor stripping off to my tee shirt as I went. An added bonus was to have my jab given by one of the nurses from my own GP practice. My sister was in the room next door and was extremely pleased to see her favourite family doctor (before he retired) ready to give her the jab. She is normally nervous of needles but was put so much at ease that she wasn’t even sure it had been done! My lovely nurse had such a gentle touch that I only felt the smallest prick. I can honestly say it was the least painful injection I have ever had. I was given all the literature I needed and will have no hesitation in returning for the 2nd jab when called. A big thank you to all the staff and volunteers that were involved today.
