"Pregnancy and birth"

About: Aberdeen Maternity Hospital Peterhead Community Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

I received the majority of my care throughout my whole pregnancy at Peterhead maternity which I couldn’t fault at all. My midwife was Iona who was lovely and very helpful with any issues or questions I had. I got diagnosed with gestational diabetes at 28 weeks which I initially felt gutted about. I was contacted from Aberdeen and the ladies there informed me all about it and they were extremely helpful about the whole thing which put me totally at ease. I was in contact weekly with Una and Fiona who were lovely and I had regular growth scans up until 38 weeks. Luckily I managed to stay diet controlled throughout and therefor was able to just go ahead with my birth as normal but meant I had to give birth in Aberdeen. This was never an issue and the care I received from Aberdeen maternity was brilliant. All the staff who dealt with me from start to finish were really nice and my midwife Zoe who I had throughout my labour was really lovely and completely helped put me at ease throughout. I couldn’t fault the care I received from Peterhead throughout my whole pregnant and also from Aberdeen throughout the pregnancy diabetes and my labour. I gave birth to my beautiful healthy little girl in December 2020 💗.

Dear MC11

Please accept my apologies for my late response. Congratulations on the birth of your daughter and thank you for taking time to share your experience.

I am delighted to know you had a positive experience throughout your pregnancy, labour and in the postnatal period. Iona, Una, Fiona and Zoe will be equally delighted to know they contributed to your experience and I will ensure I share this with them.

It is lovely to know that you felt supported during your pregnancy and received the appropriate guidance.

Once again thank you for sharing your experience both from Peterhead CMU and Aberdeen Maternity Hospital.

With my very best wishes.

Lorraine Johnston
