"Not understanding "

About: Shepton Mallet Community Hospital

My partner visited the hospital for a scan on his elbow. We both understand that the global pandemic is affecting every practice at the moment however, my partner has ADHD and Dyslexia, so being able to do tasks such as relaying information, asking questions or filing out paperwork can be extremely difficult tasks. We asked if I could just wait with him (the waiting room was completely empty at this point too) so that we could discuss questions to ask/ fill out any paperwork needed. It is vital that he receives the care he needs due to having an operation prior to the appointment that could have been unsuccessful. Without my presence, asking questions or retaining information that could be useful in his recovery would prove difficult and could danger his speed of recovery and waste of medical time/equipment to only have to come back again.

We feel his care was let down, as no Practitioner he has ever been under has been understanding of his difficulties in reading and writing.
