"End of life care during a global pandemic"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Palliative Care Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a carer),

Mum was admitted to hospital 23rd Feb 2021.She sadly died on 21st March 2021. From the moment she was admitted by ambulance to her passing all staff showed great sensitivity, care and professional attention of the highest quality. The family would like to express our gratitude to the ambulance crew, ARU5, and especially the exceptional team in ward 54 Langlands. We could not have asked for anything better from the whole staff team in ward 54. They looked after us  making sure we were as comfortable as was possible. The family would also like to thank everyone involved for their kind support to us as a family unit during these challenging times. We feel blessed that we were able to be with mum to the very end. Thank you all so much your support and kindness has helped us through this sad time.

Thank you for your thoughtful feedback- it is very much appreciated that you've made the effort to do this at what must be such a difficult time. I am delighted your experience was of a high standard of care for your mum and your family, and I am sure the ward will be glad to hear it too. The Palliative Care team work closely with the doctors and nurses in the Langlands Unit, and I know the ward strive to provide good quality end of life care. If I can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

I'm really sorry to hear about your mum and hope that you and the family are doing ok. It is so kind of you to take the time out to thank the NHS staff who looked after your mum. Although these were the most difficult of times for you all, it is comforting to hear that the care from our staff in the ambulance service and our colleagues at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde was of such a high standard in caring for your mum and giving the best possible support to you as a family unit. Thank you once again for the kind words about our fantastic staff. It is very much appreciated.

Best wishes,

Mark
