I came to the QE for a check up at 4am after speaking to a midwife on the phone at 3am. I was quickly assessed and theatre was prepped for an emergency c section due to a suspected ruptured placenta. My baby was delivered by 6am. The whole team assessing me and performing the operation were so attentive and explained everything to me and helped keep me calm - it was far from the water birth I had imagined, and yet still an amazing positive experience. My husband was also supported and not forgotten about, and was able to be with us in theatre. The after care of special care unit and the wards was second to none. The care the midwives showed me was just amazing. Having an emergency section with my first baby, and my husband being limited to the time he could spend with me, the midwives gave me emotional and physical support which I really needed. I felt like help was only 30 seconds away, they made me feel so safe. I had an incredible experience and I cannot thank the team enough for the care they showed me and baby Charlie.
