"Awfully rude receptionists"

About: Bridge Cottage Surgery

Of course we must give everyone a break in this difficult time but in all honesty, being unkind to others is not good enough especially when you are in a receptionist on the front line of people experiencing pain. At the minute we are all struggling and all deserve kindness. In specifics, there is a nonchalant ‘you are getting me my way’ tone, short responses, and a definite feeling I have just interrupted them from something far more important than myself. In my case this has stopped me from calling entirely. I want them to know, if the practice ever see these, which they probably never do, that there are a lot of people who are struggling right now and kindest from their local doctors surgery is surely so important! You do not know what affect your rudeness may have on others who in some cases are in complete isolation and you are the first they have spoken to in a while. Kindness knows no limits, just try it.

Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback about our service. I am very sorry to hear that you have had such a poor experience. I have passed your comments on to the reception manager and she will discuss these with our reception team. As a surgery we are here to help our patients and certainly do not want patients to feel they cannot come to us when needed. Whilst we are very busy, it is important that patients know they can ask for help. Once again, thank you for bringing this to our attention and I am sorry that we did not offer you the kindness you deserve.
