I'm sure anyone who is told they need one of these procedures is going to feel nervous at the prospect. I certainly was but now I am a few days beyond it, and am able to reflect on the experience, I can honestly report that anticipation is definitely the worse part.
The Tower block is not easy to find if you don't know the hospital and are prevented from walking through the main building but once there it was a seamless journey.
The usual paperwork then a thorough explanation of the procedure and an opportunity to select sedation, gas or both. My preference for a total knockout was translated into sedation and gas. Then after getting into the latest fashion in hospital robing I was taken straight into the room to meet the team. It was all very professional, even entertaining, although it wouldn't be my favourite channel to watch on TV, and very soon afterwards I was wheeled out to enjoy a glass of water and, here comes the best bit, three custard cream biscuits. Yes, 3!
Well done to the team and a big thank you for the last part.
