"Not a place to get better"

About: Leicester General Hospital

I have been in A&E twice in the last 2 weeks and had absolutely fantastic care but unfortunately transferred to ward 28 both times. I was firstly disgusted to see the state of the bathrooms again. Used urine samples in all available toilets. The majority of staff were kind and caring but finding out a plan of care was another matter. I was told last time not to go to bed as I was due to have a procedure. I ended up going to sleep and was called at 0715 to go! This time I am on IV antibiotics so can’t walk out as I need treatment. It’s now 0140 in the morning and all the lights have been turned on to admit a patient. Surely there should be an area to admit new patients instead of waking up the whole room! The ward is already incredibly noisy with interruptions all the time. This is not an environment to get better in. I work for the NHS and I never realised quite how bad hospital wards could be.

I also know what is wrong with every patient here as the handover is at the end of the bed between shifts with no attempt at confidentiality.

So I am now in pain with very little chance of getting much sleep. Disappointed is an understatement!

On a positive the housekeeper and care assistants were lovely.
