"Outrageous behaviour on the ward"

About: Princess Alexandra Hospital (Harlow)

(as the patient),

I was admitted from A & E I was sent to the new AAC ward what a marvelous experience, until I got moved to winter ward, sadly full of dementia ladies and mixed wards. I was in for my other condition I needed my usual medication to control my symptoms I asked politely 4 days in a row explaining carefully why I needed the doctor to prepare scripts so that if necessary I would need them urgently was told everytime request had gone in, I need diazepam to control the spasms in my body , well needless to say my requests were ignored and my body went into fit of spasms. I was told to be quiet or security would come and remove me, again trying to get them to listen not rocket science read my records 🙄 to be told by a member of staff that a friend of theirs had my condition and that I was having a panic attack. This person was not a doctor.

As usual we all had no sleep because of the poor souls with dementia screaming crying moaning absolutely heartbreaking. They were left all night one fallen out of bed blood everywhere I seemed to spend my night telling nurses to help these poor ladies. I also witnessed racism and bullying on the ward.

I was chatting to one lady  and the nurse said best get you home you don't want to walk anyway. I was totally outraged and demanded the nurse apologized to her, which she did I had heard the Dr say they were sending her to unit to help her walk again.

Morale seemed low on the ward,  which I appreciate, but rudeness and bully tactics were outrageous. I eventually discharged myself as I am not the kind of person who is going to be told sit down and shut up. I witnessed many dementia patients being yelled at,  food left on tray as they couldn't feed themselves.  This was not every shift, then two other patients attacked a dementia patient because she wouldn't shut up no police were called just security!

I am in intelligent person with morals. PAH need a full investigation as to these events that are going on. Thaere was one very good nurse on the ward, but how long will this good nurses last if they are watching this type of cruelty? Management need to be seen and doing something not keep changing sops to make themselves look good ! Get a move on PAH COVID no excuse as there were no cases in at this time
