"Virtual (Zoom) calls"

About: Royal Victoria Hospital (Belfast)

(as a relative),

My sister experienced a medical event which necessitated an induced coma. 60% of her family live overseas . Due to the Covid situation, flights are Impossible.

Being able to “visit” by arranged Zoom calls has been an enormous help , to the family and I think for her.too .

The facilitator/s are always wonderful and carry out our sometimes “weird “ requests without complaint or comment.

This option should be always available in the future .

Dear Pluxtonx53,

my name is Barry Murtagh and I am a Patient & Client Experience Facilitator within the Belfast Health & Social Care Trust. I have been involved in the development, implementation and rollout of the Virtual Visiting project.

Firstly, I hope your sister is doing well and I am glad that the Virtual Visit was helpful to both her and all the family. I can appreciate how difficult this was, especially with family being overseas and am delighted to hear your positive comments.

Virtual Visiting is part of an ongoing quality improvement project and this feedback is extremely helpful for its future development.

I look forward to sharing this with the team (the facilitators in particular).

Best wishes,

Barry
