"What A Team!"

I had a full hip replacement in February 2021 and was really pleased to be able to have it at the Montefiore.

I had heard about their brilliant team from a friend who had had a very successful double hip replacement at the hospital. I was very keen to have the minimally invasive surgery they offer, and not have a general anaesthetic, but a spinal injection and sedation. I was fully informed of every step and knew what was happening at all times. The spinal injection was nothing to fear, only slightly uncomfortable. That, and the sedation, was carried out by the team in a really relaxed and friendly atmosphere. I chatted during the pre op preps, and almost forgot I was about to have the actual procedure. I was asleep and unaware throughout the operation which took just over an hour.

No general anaesthetic meant no fuzziness coming round and nothing lingering in my system; a good kick start for recovery. I was able to weight bear the same day which also boosted my confidence .

My wound was very small and is now a 6" line scar. I had no bruising at all, and the stitches were all the dissolving kind, so no removal required. All very neat and clean.

It is lovely to be free of pain, to be able to sleep comfortably again and to have so much more energy. There is lots to look forward to and enjoy again and I feel years younger!

I have no hesitation in recommending the wonderful hip team at the Montefiore. Their brilliant way of replacing hips means a much faster and more comfortable recovery. I feel lucky and privileged to have benefited from the skills of this top class team.
