"Misdiagnosed"

About: Russells Hall Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as a service user),

I have been in constant pain for the last 10 years because of misdiagnosis of what was wrong with me. I have seen so many physiotherapy telling me to do so many different exercises ,half of them couldn't tell me what was wrong,I was even sent to the therapy pool at Russells Hall hospital,I could barely walk when I came out.

I was told all along I had arthritis, and was even told by a doctor at Russells Hall Hospital that I just had to put up with it.

Eventually I was sent to a back clinic in Brierley last year, was told by them I had sciatica as well as arthritis, they referred me to the Russells Hall Hospital,so I waited and waited but didn't hear from them. I called as it was only telephone appointments because of Covid. I was told my name wasn't on any list anywhere,so I called Brierley Clinic again and was told it was sent to them.

Eventually I was called in to see the Orthopedic doctor, they examined my back and I was told they would give me a spine injection. I signed a form. I was told I would be contacted when a appointment became available, but I never heard anything, so I called Orthopedics again, was told because of Covid they weren't doing injections. I am in so much pain I don't go out anymore.I have forgotten to say I have Scoliosis as well. If I could afford it I would go private.

I would prefer to remain anonymous. I wanted my story in print to advise readers of GPS and Hospitals failings.
