I took my 87 year old mother in law, who is hard of hearing and has difficulty walking for her 12 weekly B12 injection to this surgery. I foolishly pulled into the staff car park to get her as near to the door as possible as it was raining and she cannot walk very far, I took her to the door and announced her arrival through the the door entry system.
We waited on the doorstep as instructed and after a couple of minutes somebody came to let us in, unfortunately she was more concerned that I had parked in the staff car park than my 87 year old mother in law was waiting outside in the cold and rain.
The next problem was that I was accused of shouting to complain about the situation which is probably true (I am 65 years old and deaf in my left ear), but as my MIL is also deaf it is the only way to communicate with her and I have to speak loudly and the lovely receptionist took this as me being aggressive to her.
I am aware we are in difficult times but I do think this situation could have been dealt with in a more sympathetic manner.
The situation did end on a high note with the nurse who administered the injection escorting my MIL from the surgery so my stay in the hallowed car park was kept to a minimum.
"Strange priorities"
