"Biopsy Appointment"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Gynaecology (Ward 13)

(as a parent/guardian),

following an abnormal smear test my Daughter was called into University Hospital Wishaw for a biopsy appointment, on arriving at the clinic her appointment began with a discussion around what size of biopsy would be taken that day,

As a result of an abnormal smear test results.without going into to much detail the biopsy was taken and she was discharged from the hospital within 20 minutes with very little explaination of what to expect might happen when she returned home.
She suffered exterm side affects and later that day had to seek further medical intervention at Hairmyres Hospital.
My reason for writting this review is I know my Daughters circumstances are not the usual outcome, the point I would like to make is this it would have been most helpful and created less stress if there had been better communication and a leaflet had been offered on leaving the appointment explaining what might happen and incase of emergency what the next steps would be interms of dealing with the emergency.
It's the lack of information and communication that is the issue I would like to see this being resolved for future patients who might have the same experience as me.
