I care for my Dad and took him to his pre-assessment appointment. We were called in on time and the staff nurse went through some of the questions. When he got to the medication section he asked Dad about the blood thinning drugs and Dad said that the cardiologist told him to stop them, March 2020. The staff nurse went back to the letter that was sent out following this appointment and it said to stop two of the medication but not both blood thinning drugs. The nurse starting to get 'cross' and said something similar to 'you shouldn't have stopped both of these, you could have a heart attack at any time' Both myself and Dad felt very humiliated as if it was our fault. Dad has never had his medication reviewed by his GP or the hospital.
We needed to see an anaesthetist, so he was called, but due to his urgent schedule didn't arrive. We waited over 3 hours. However the rest of the staff in the Pre--Assessment department were really helpful and gave us something to eat and drink.
