"Disappointment"

About: Stanley

This is my local practice but in the last few years it has severely declined. There are now only 2 FT Drs and 1 PT.

I have lately received a letter advising me that this practice is no longer offering the Contraceptive i use. They advised due to demand they have taken the decision to offer the service for Coils to be fitted and I need to go else where i.e to the centre of wakefield.

I find this really disappointing, as you can imagine you would think that the Dr that you with would offer all the services needed such as this.

I for one do not like to visit the Drs as I suffer from White Coat Hypertension and a Dr i used to love was always mindful of this and took my BP Manually rather than a machine. I told a HCA this once and she ignored me and took it electronically and then told me it was high, when I had to go back, they did it electronically and then manually and it was fine which proved to them that I knew what I was talking about.

I know that the COVID issue has put additional strain on the Health Service, however I dont believe a practice can sustain a level of service with so little fully Qualified Drs. I remember when they used to have about 8 of them and now we are down to the bare bones. 1 Dr of which I refuse to see unless absolutely necessary as they mumble and don't really seem that interested.

Please please get more Dr's and then I am sure that service will improve

Dear Patient,

I am sorry you felt our services were not satisfactory. The decision to cease some contraceptive services was taken after consideration that these services can be accessed nearby by a specialist service. This will allow the practice to offer more appointments on a daily basis for urgent and routine matters. We have 3 GPs and 2 Advance Nurse Practitioners (ANPs) who work alongside the GPs. Our Health Care Assistants work under strict guidance and regulations which means they cannot do some procedures without express permission. I apologise that you felt ignored on your initial visit. If you would like to contact me to discuss this please ring: 01924 822328 - Pat Foster, Practice Manager
