"Absolutely disgusting service"

About: Roundwell Medical Centre

I am alone supporting my father with palliative care after he was diagnosed with mesothelioma 3 weeks ago and has only been given weeks to live. I work full time but obviously this time is very upsetting for me so I have taken time off work. I rang to get a sick certificate on Wednesday and after holding for 58 minutes I was told I would have to ring back on Friday and ask to book a call back with a doctor to obtain a sick certificate. After holding on for 1 hour 12 minutes today I got told I need to go online and request a certificate. I am astounded how a member of staff wouldn’t know this. I completed the form and it quite clearly states if they require any further information they will contact me. I get an email back at 6.52 on a Friday night, when I can do nothing until Monday, advising that I am to ring the surgery to organise a telephone consultation, which is what I had tried to do today. To me it seemed quite apparent someone wanted to go home rather than having to deal with a sick note and was easier to send a reply back. It is quite obvious that the staff have never provided palliative care and he stressed that comes with this of a morning. Instead of helping to get my dad up, washing him, getting him dressed, doing his breakfast, sorting his medication I am stuck on the phone trying yet organise another appointment.....absolutely disgusting service and no compassion for my circumstances. I certainly would not recommend this practice to anyone
