Sadly after today I will be leaving this surgery as the receptionist I spoke to this morning obviously has an over inflated idea of her job description.
Being a transplant recipient with an blood clotting condition I am unable to go to a normal dentist and instead require a referral from my GP to be treated in hospital. I have a tooth abscess and need a tooth pulling so rang the surgery to try and set up a referral with my GP. After trying many times to explain to the receptionist my issue and being constantly interrupted by her patronisingly shouting ‘we don’t do teeth’ and ‘ring the emergency dentist’ (which I had done and been told to get a referral) I admitted defeat and realised that although the doctors at this surgery are fantastic the battle with the receptionists is too difficult. This is not the first time something like this has happened at this surgery and with my health conditions it is concerning that a receptionist believes she has a better understanding of the care that I require rather than myself or the doctor. Very frustrating and upsetting experience.
