"Trying to get treatment for my back"

About: Stoke Mandeville Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

Been laid up for 4 weeks now with excruciating pain in my back I’ve had a fight on my hands to try and get something done spoken to my gp had an ambulance out nothing just given me pills eventually I gave up and ended up getting myself to a&e but it was a mission and the pain was horrendous

Once I’d seen the dr in a&e they were going to send me home with sciatica but I had to kick up a fuss as I knew it wasn’t the problem he eventually agreed to contact orthopaedics and I had a scan after being seen by a specialist. They confirmed I had compression on my spine and needed surgery he told me to go home and I will get a phone call the following morning surprise this didn’t happen I’ve tried contacting the relevant people with no success so back in bed not knowing what’s happening and totally demoralised

Dear Sir/Madam

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments on this website.

I am sorry to read of the problems you have experienced in getting treatment for your back pain.

I was also sorry to learn that you haven’t received further contact or information.

I would be very grateful if you could contact the Patient Advice & Liaison Service (PALS) on 01296 316042 to talk about your specific experience, and to see how we may be able to assist you at this time.

Kind regards

Anthony Banton
