I attended the hospital for a colonoscopy. I was very nervous as this was my first procedure. The staff were very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. This immediately put me at ease and reassured me I was in the right place and had the right team working together to perform the procedure.
A member of staff asked if a student nurse could sit in on the procedure to which she politely introduced herself. I agreed and was greatly rewarded by the knowledge and experience being taught to this student nurse by the endoscopist. This reassured me more that the endoscopist had a great knowledge of his field, practices and the procedure he was about to commence. The team were very reassuring and answered any questions I had throughout the procedure. I was even impressed with the knowledge shown and reassurance given by the student nurse along her willingness to learn while staying by my side throughout the procedure and during recovery time. She showed her professionalism, compassion and reassurance; all great features for someone working towards their career within the health care profession.
I would like to thank all the team for their support and help while attending their department.
