"Great but let down in the end"

About: Musgrove Park Hospital

I was treated for possible spinal problems and the care I received whilst in the hospital was second to none! Amazing. In the end I was told by a Physiotherapist that there wasn’t anything to remark on my MRI scan and needed to speak to my GP and other consultant that I’m under the care of to talk about management of pain and reoccurrences of back pain. I’d been in since 1pm and everyone was so lovely and compassionate. He left around 5:30pm and said I needed to wait for the report to confirm his findings and will be able to go home. I waited a further 1hr 30 in a freezing cold waiting area in a seat that wasn’t great for my back pain which is not their fault at all as I appreciate they are running round so cold would be good for them. It got to the point I felt a burden and as there wasn’t anything life threatening wrong I told someone I would discharge myself.

I then got a call from a Nurse at 7pm asking where I was. I said I was at home because I was cold and hadn’t eaten anything since this morning so felt sick and wanted to get comfortable at home. She asked whether I wanted my results and I explained I was told to speak to my Gp.

She then said. Well you are very lucky to of had a MRI scan and that I was lucky I didn’t have to wait and got one straight away. To which I said I was grateful and appreciate the great job they do. Then she said well did you want to hear what the DR was going to tell you. I said yes if he’s happy to, she said well he may call you he’s very busy and we hung up.

To say I was lucky to have a MRI scan not only makes me think that she didn’t believe my symptoms but also that I was ungrateful. Which I am not. I appreciated the time they took with me and the care I received.

I just didn’t want to burden the department anymore and felt People where in much more need than me considering my MRI confirmed that I didn’t have anything serious.

Still waiting for a call from the DR.
