I moved to this practice after giving birth to my daughter. In the first month of my baby's life I became concerned with her breathing and booked several phone calls with a number of different GPs. At no point was I invited to bring the infant in to the surgery, despite the hospital, the health advisor and the NHS guidance suggesting that I should have been offered a face to face appointment. We eventually visited the local hospital instead. I then visited the surgery to get help with some post natal issues that were very distressing to me. I tried to bring these up with the doctor at the 8 week check up, only to be told that the check up was only for the baby. Despite this being a mother's and baby's check up, I was only asked two questions about my mental health and nothing about my physical health. Whenever I phoned to speak to a GP I was always given an appointment with a different person, with the last doctor complaining, quite rudely, that I really just needed to stick to one doctor (alas, I was never given the choice of seeing the same person). In the past three months since signing up with the surgery it has been a constant stream of issues, from doctors who never rang me back for my phone appointments, to errors with bookings (my child's immunisations were booked on the wrong week), to rather abrupt and rude staff (both medical and administrative). Whilst I understand the strain the service is experiencing because of covid, I remain convinced that better care is possible, and should be offered, especially for young mothers.
"Disappointing"
