My local GP had failed to diagnose problem, finally declaring it to be "nothing to be concerned about". I persisted, was seen by Mr Ahmidat, Consultant Gynaecologist on 14th January and, had the lesion removed 25th January, under local anaesthetic. Mr Ahmidat also removed good skin around the area, which could be compared at the Laboratory.
After the operation, I was in a great deal of pain - Paracetamol would not alleviate the pain. I phoned the hospital 1st February, Mr Ahmidat saw me that morning and, prescribed Diclofenac. Unfortunately due to an error at my local GP surgery, the prescription was not sent to my nominated Pharmacy, so I didn't get the medication until the morning of 4th February.
Mr Ahmidat phoned me later that day and, was very concerned that I had waited so long for the medication, which Aston Pharmacy had kindly delivered to my home. Mr Ahmidat explained that the biopsy had revealed the removed lesion to be a basal cell carcinoma, a locally invasive tumour. He has a lovely calming manner, both over the phone and, in person. He arranged a follow up appointment for 6 weeks time, but also told me that I could contact him any time before then.
"Action taken when I discovered a lesion."
