"Birth at Peterhead Midwifery Unit"

About: Peterhead Community Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

I had my first baby at Peterhead Maternity Unit in Jan 2021 and couldn't fault the care I received both during my labour / delivery and throughout my pregnancy. The midwives & reception staff were always friendly, approachable & ready to answer any questions.

I had a short labour & speedy delivery in the birthing pool and felt calm and at ease throughout. The unit has a more homely feel to it and didn't feel as busy or stressful as a big hospital.

The midwives visited when I was home from hospital to make sure baby was settling in okay and provided reassurance.

I wouldn't hesitate to return to Peterhead in the future, and can't thank them enough for making having a baby during a global pandemic that little bit easier.

Dear PhdMum

Congratulation's on the birth of your baby. Thank you so much for the lovely feedback about the North/Peterhead team.

They will be delighted to receive this and I will ensure it is shared with them all.

The CMU is homely, its great you had a pool birth and I am delighted you felt supported in a calm environment.

Delighted to hear the midwives were a support to you following the birth at home too

Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience

With my very best wishes

Rachael MacDonald
