"My mother"

About: St Lukes Hospice The Ridgeway Surgery

(as a relative),

My mother had been very sick where I initially became her carer. However she deteriorated quite rapidly and needed more care than I was able to offer her. I then had carers coming in to assist me but very soon this was not enough and my mother had to be moved to St Luke’s Hospice in Kenton.

Firstly while my mother was still at home with me the care and attention my mother received from Dr Lloyd is was truly wonderful. My mother has been Dr Lloyds patient for 25 years and the dedication and support Dr Lloyd has give us has been second to none. Dr Lloyd was always a phone call or text message away and even with his busy schedule amid the COVID crisis he would always be there for us with his patience , sincerity and warm smile. He wasn’t there just for my mother but also for me ensuring I was getting as much help as I could.

He referred me to the Pallative care team in Harrow where Hilary was an immense help. Her warmth and genuine concern with our situation was so sincere and once she saw how bad things had got she referred my mother to St Luke’s hospice. I am so thankful to Hilary for her rapid response as if my mother had not gone to St Luke’s I don’t think I could have coped for much longer.

This was the first time I had ever had any experience with a hospice and I did not know what to expect. I have been completely blown away by everything and everyone there.

The care my mother has received has been exemplary. Every single member of staff, no matter what their position have shown nothing but kindness .

Dr. Daniels and Dr Sandra have shown compassion but at the same time with honesty and without ever patronising. The care the nurses have given to my mother as been carried out gently and with the utmost dignity.

I couldn’t wish for my mother to have been anywhere else and I feel lucky and blessed to have met such lovely people .

Thank you for your heartfelt feedback of your mothers care, both in the community as well as on the inpatient unit.

I'm glad that we were able to communicate across all the services to ensure that your mother received the exemplary care you mentioned. I will ensure that the team is informed of your kind words.
