"Treatment for breast cancer"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Breast Services Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Dept of Scheduled Admissions Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / General Surgery Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Radiotherapy Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Theatres NHS Grampian / North East Scotland Breast Screening Centre

(as the patient),

Having experienced care from staff in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, I have nothing but thanks for them all. My journey from breast clinic ( including the support from breast nurse Shona through Macmillan navigator) to surgery to ward 209 and finally the radiotherapy department was very smooth and everyone  was welcoming and helpful. I’m sure I’ll forget other departments but there’s the domestics, secretaries, engineers, security, pre-op assessment at Woodend - all coming together to make a patient's hospital experience as pleasant as possible. Thank you to you all.

Dear maynq93,

Many thanks for taking the time to post such a kind message. I am the manager of the Pre-Operative Assessment at Woodend, I will be sure to pass on your thanks to them. I will also ensure the other departments are thanked too. This will mean a lot to them in these challenging times.

I wish you a speedy recovery and all the best in your future treatments.

best wishes

Dear maynq93

Thank you for posting such positive comments on Care Opinion. It was very heartwarming to read that even at a stressful time for you and your family you found the services we provided were of high quality and staff cared for you in a person centred way from diagnosis to treatment

It is always such a morale boost for staff when they receive comments such as these and I will personally share them with the radiotherapy and Macmillan navigator project staff.

I hope you are recovering well and continue to improve following your treatments

Thanks again and kindest regards

Dear maynq93

Thank you so much for taking the time to share the deeply personal experience of your journey from outpatient, within the breast clinic, through to inpatient, in ward 209. This must of been an exceptionally stressful time for you and your family and I am delighted to hear that you found the staff to be welcoming and helpful throughout your journey.

This level of individual care is what the team and service strive to achieve for each and everyone of our patients, and your feedback will be greatly appreciated by all within each of the teams. I will personally share your kind comments with Shona and the wider team on your behalf.

I hope you are recovering well and wish you and your family all the best in the future.

Thank you once again

Best wishes
