"Major heart operation"

About: Borders General Hospital / Cardiology Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Cardiothoracic Surgery

(as the patient),

My operation was conducted in the Royal Infirmary Edinburgh, but pre- and post-care was in the Borders General Hospital. Of the 37 days I was in hospital more than 30 were in the BGH. I returned a month later  to the BGH for another 5 days.

Every aspect of care was outstanding, but I must single out the nurses: nothing was too much trouble; it was as though we were members of the same family. Every day was a series of laughs. Another aspect that deserves special mention is the food: nutritious, generous, tasty, like Granny makes it.

I can find nothing to criticise.

Dear Hapax

Thank you very much for sharing your feedback with us following your major heart operation at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

I read that for the majority of care you were in the BGH and l am sure that my colleagues from NHS Borders will respond to your post.

I was delighted to read how the nursing staff cared for you during your hospital stay and pleased that they were able to keeping your laughing and make you feel part of the family. I have shared your lovely feedback with the senior team at the Royal Infirmary and have asked them to share your kind words with the ward staff.

I do hope you are well on the road to recovery and staying warm and dry on this very cold and snowy winters day.

With best wishes

Jeannette
