"Birth Experience - 5th time around"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Maternity unit

(as the patient),

At the end of January I gave birth to my 5th baby.

I wanted to write to you, to make you aware of how wonderful the experience was during my labour with your midwife Lauren.

Giving birth four times before, I new what to expect and a clear plan in mind for pain relief, delayed cord clamping ect

Lauren talked through each part with myself an my fiancé as we where preparing for everything to begin.

I want to thank her, She gave me two of the best gifts I could have ever asked for—my daughter, and a positive birthing experience.

She made me feel comfortable 100% of the time.

She respected the way I wanted to give birth. Listened to me—really listened.

They're was no pressure for me to do anything, they're was no continually questioning me how I was feeling. She let me tell her when I was ready to push (which seemed early, but was the case)

I think what's most important to me, thinking back on my birth stories, is that Lauren was with me throughout the whole process of labour and delivery. Not here and there, not just the end when I needed to push—the whole time.

I hope you pass on our gratefulness.

I would also like to mention to Rebekah in Triage, Rebekah had been my midwife 3 pregnancies ago before been moved to triage. Anytime I visited triage or phone an got her she was always very helpful and so friendly.

She always put my mind at ease, an listened. Im internally grateful to her for been there for me on that day when I got to triage with pain and just a sense something was not right, she was fabulous at keeping me calm , following all her producers & although nothing was majorly coming up on the monitor, she believed me and remembered this situation from my previous pregnancy.

She accompanied me up to the ward to get settled, a felt frightened but she reassured me..

An for that I'm so grateful

Dear Taurus91

Congratulations on the birth of your little girl. I hope you are both well and the family are enjoying their new wee sister.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us.

What you have described, your Midwife making you the focus of everything; giving care that was just right for you; directed by and involving you is what we aspire to for all our mums and families, it is just so heartening to read. These are the little things that make welcoming your wee baby in to the world so special for all, including your Midwife.

Lauren and Rebekah are excellent Midwives who always strive to give care you have described. I know both have seen your posting and are over the moon with it and wish to thank you for sharing it.

With best wishes for all the fun times that lie ahead.

Kindest regards

Gail
