"Exceptional care"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department University Hospital Wishaw / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as a service user),

I’ve put my back out and I’m miserable, the pain is so intense I can’t stop myself from crying sometimes. All the nurses are great but I was told they were really sorry but I couldn't have anymore painkillers. Two nurses Rose and Anne went out of their way to call a Dr and get me stronger painkillers Tramadol, Pregabalin and something else and when I took them it was the first relief I’ve had that actually worked and made me comfortable. I’m so grateful to them because everybody else was just saying I can’t have anymore but Anne and Rose recognised I needed something much stronger. Thank you so much. I see the staff are run off their feet and exhausted but nothing was too much for them and they are a credit to the NHS. A HUGE THANK YOU.

Dear Duncanjb13,

Many thanks for sharing your experience during your visit to the emergency department.

I am pleased that you found the nursing staff attentive and that there was escalation to our Drs when you were in pain. They will be delighted to read the positive feedback and I will ensure this is shared with them.

I hope your pain continues to be under control and that you continue to improve.

Best wishes

Andy
