We planned to have a home birth for our third baby in January 2021 at the suggestion of our community midwife, Kelly. I was apprehensive about travelling to hospital during the pandemic mid labour (my previous labour had been quick). Our midwife connected us with the local home birth team and after meeting with Laura, we felt totally reassured that this was the right decision for us.
My labour was longer than I had anticipated and we ended up with 5 different midwives at different points throughout the night. Elaine, Kelly, Kylie, Jenny and Laura were all the most amazing support network I could have asked for during our home birth. They made me feel totally in control and supported throughout. I felt like they genuinely listened to me and allowed me to trust my body to birth my baby without any interventions.
We have told so many people of our amazing experience with the home birth team. I never thought I would be able to say I enjoyed my labour and delivery, especially after my experience delivering my second baby. This team made that happen for us though!
I can’t thank the midwives enough for the help and support they provided to us throughout the pregnancy and then delivery. We really felt the continuity of care made a huge difference too
