About: Ayrshire Central Hospital Crosshouse Hospital / Accident & Emergency Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a service user),

In October of last year my husband Andy collapsed at his work in Ayrshire central kitchen and passed away in Crosshouse ED resus at 7.21am.

My family and I would like to thank all the staff that he worked with in the kitchen for what they did that morning and the trauma they went through I can’t imagine how hard that was for all of them . To the crash team at woodlands view , the nurse practitioner who called me to keep me Informed of Andy being transferred to Crosshouse . To the paramedics , all the staff in Crosshouse resus that morning Nursing staff and Doctors who tried to save him.

We appreciate all you did to try and bring him back to life but it wasn’t to be.

You are all hero’s to us and can’t thank you enough for your kindness , care and attention on such a harrowing and traumatic experience for my family.

Please can you make sure all staff involved that day know how much we truly appreciate their care and efforts to save our much loved Andy.

Hi June

It was a real privilege and pleasure working with Andy and was felt by the staff in Ailsa and ACH as well as the extended team of support services

Andy was a true gentleman and passionate Head Chef

Andy is missed and will always be part of our memories and thoughts

Dear June13,

Firstly, please accept my sincerest condolences for the loss of your husband Andy. I appreciate that this must continue to be a very difficult time for you and I would like to thank you for sharing your feedback here on CareOpinion. What you have written is really touching and I would like to get these comments to the crews involved if I can. If you would still like your comments to be passed onto the crews involved, please email my team at sas.feedback@nhs.scot and what we will need is your name, your address and the time/date that we attended Andy. That will allow us to locate the job on the system and find the crew. It would also be extremely helpful if you made reference to your CareOpinion username in the email as it is unlikely it will be myself that picks this up as I am having a few days off. This will allow the team to link your email to this story more easily.

Thanks again for taking the time to share this, it is very greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards

Alan
