"A&E care at Dr Gray’s"

About: Dr Gray's Hospital / Emergency Medicine

(as the patient),

While in recent years I have personally had good care at A&E at Dr Gray’s, it is unfortunate that this has not been the case since early 2020.

The misdiagnosis and initial neglect of a torn meniscus in January 2020 by a GP at A&E has now led to the extended damage to my spine, as bending properly has not been possible. The delay of any medication or treatment for osteoporosis since 2018 has culminated in poor care for a rupture in my spinal lumbar this week by a Locum, when I have been given medication content with an intolerance ingredient which has serious side effects, this despite being told of the allergy. I am left wondering when proper safe professional care can be offered.

Dear Lindo,

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience of care in our Emergency Department. I'm sorry that this fell short of the standard you'd expect and did not match the positive experiences you've had in recent years.

I'll share this Care Opinion with the clinical team and would very much appreciate it if you felt able to provide more details via the NHS Grampian Feedback & Complaints route (https://www.nhsgrampian.org/about-us/contact-us/feedback-and-complaints). We would then be able to contact you directly to provide more specific feedback and support to resolve any ongoing issues or concerns.

Kind regards,

Louise

Dear Louise, Thank you for your reply and your helpful advice to contact further which I would like to do as I feel my care was less than acceptable. Kind regards

Dear Lindo

Thank you for sharing your experience on Care Opinion.

I'm disheartened to read that your recent visit to A&E was not the same level of care as on previous visits and for that I send my sincere apologies.

I would echo Louise's comment to share more detail with the feedback team at NHS Grampian where we will be able to address the detail of the concerns you have.

Take care and stay safe.

Kind regards

Diane
