I want to give feedback and thanks to the three staff members who were working the MRI scanner at 2pm today. I find a MRI scan a very anxiety provoking experience and have taken panic attacks when scanned in the past. As soon as I said about my anxiety and fear of being inside the scanner I was supported and reassured.
The main thing was my fears were heard and responded to and with great compassion. Everything was explained to me and I received reassurance throughout. I was also given permission that if I couldn’t manage then there were alternatives to my positioning that could be tried. I had never been informed of this before.
The staff themselves were just terrific. They may think this is “just what we do everyday” but I want to share what a positive difference that made to my experience and to keep up that excellent person centred care. I was even given some advice regarding any future scans and how to manage this. What was a very difficult process for me was made a much more positive experience and it’s all due to the staff listening to me and acknowledging my feelings of great anxiety and doing everything in their power to support me. A very big heartfelt thank you to the three of you.
