"Exemplary and prompt treatment"

About: North Devon District Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

Contacted NHS online on Sunday 11 August. Within 15 minutes had a call back and was at the outpatient service in Okehampton within 30 minutes. GP referral made to North Devon Hospital. All pre op checks carried out prior to the operation on 9th October. Quality of care impressive and my partner was surprised by a call to him as a carer which was reassuring.

I wrote to my local MP (Cox) and the Chief executive of the trust praising my exemplary and prompt  treatment. I hope they received the letters and that the latter passed on the message to the team that treated me. I did ask the former to support a National Service and resist creating privatisation.

Dear Bron

Thank you so much for taking the time to tell us about your NHS journey. I am glad to hear that you had a good experience throughout and we do appreciate your feedback on how much you value our services. I am sure that our Chief Executive will have passed on your thanks but if you are able to let me know which ward/department you visited I will also ensure that this is done.

It is also good to hear that your partner was contacted in their role as a carer. Our Trust recognises how important carers are and value their input. As part of our ‘commitment to carers’ we collaborate with Devon Carers who can support unpaid carers in their role. Carers that are registered with Devon Carers are eligible for free parking and meals whilst supporting the person that they care for in hospital. If you haven’t registered already the link is here: https://devoncarers.org.uk/

Thank you again for your feedback, I wish you well in your recovery.

Best wishes

Lisa

Update posted by Bron (the patient)

Hi Lisa,

I was on Lundy ward and my letter included praise for my surgeon for adapting his briefing to match my level of understanding and for the anaesthetic team who kept me engaged ( we talked about my post -mortem on a leopard) as I drifted off.

Chris joked that he deserved a sticker for being a devoted career.

The bit about the MP should have read ‘creeping’ privatisation. I should check more carefully before I send!

‘Bron’

Hi Bron

Thank you for the update. I will ensure that your thanks are passed on to both Lundy ward and the anaesthetics team. Your comment about the sticker has made us smile too.

Thank you again for taking the time to feedback.

Best wishes

Lisa
