"Covid 19 in maternity"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Maternity Care (Wards 21-24)

(as a relative),

My grandson was born in wishaw 4 weeks early . We thought everything was in place for everyone s safety . Covid tests.  ppe social distance etc . Grateful that my son could be with his wife, staff were great. But after the birth they are in a postnatal ward where someone’s test has come back positive. My son is now not allowed to visit and is told to isolate for 10 days.

1 why were patients put together before test results were back.

2 why does my son need to isolate when he was in PPE and distanced.

This makes no sense to me as all the nurses would still be working and not isolating.

Could I please ask you to call our Patient Affairs Manager on 01698 366558 to allow you to discuss this matter in more detail.

Can I please take this opportunity to congratulate you on the birth of your grandson and I wish you and your family all the best for the future.

Best wishes

Update posted by Margi3 (a relative)

Hi things did improve and my son was allowed to isolate with mum and baby. Still not happy that my grandson who was premature was put at risk. Nothing can be done about that now but I would hope lessons were learned
