I was admitted to A&E on Monday 11th Even with covid protocols ALL the staff in A&E were professional & compassionate The first thing that l noticed was that even though the extremely dedicated staff were working under great stress there was an underlying sense of humour Which as far as I am concerned was re-assuring and made me feel less stressed .The following day I was moved to the intergrated cardiac word where once again ALL the staff from doctors, nurses to cleaners were efficient helpful & friendly .At all times l was kept update to my future medical procedure & when l would possibly be discharged . Once again the sense of humour of the staff made my stay so much better . I do believe that a happy workforce is a good workforce & at no time were they flippant or sarcastic. Considering the challenges that the staff face at this time ,their attitude was certainly re-assuring & made for a very pleasant stay.My pacemaker was inserted on Wednesday afternoon & the surgeon explained the whole procedure very thoroughly (including any possible setbacks) l think his quiet demeanor & confidence put me at ease prior to the op . In ending l would just like to say that the staff & health care that l received at Fairfield was brilliant & in fact far superior to even the private health care that l received at great expense in South Africa . So to all those people who complain about the NHS all l can say is go & spend a few years in Africa & then you will appreciate the NHS Calum Mackenzie
"brilliant service & care"
