"Worse gp in England "

About: Clover Group Practice (Darnall)

Me and my wife moved in Sheffield April 2017 from London. After we moved here we try to sort everything out as part of our new life in a new city so register the gp was one of the part as well. So we went to the go took the form fill it up and send it back to the gp. I never needed to go to the gp since I registered as I am a young healthy man. Recently I was tested positive of corona virus and I was extremely sick and call to 111 and ask medical help . Than they advised me to contact my local gp and a doctor will assist me with further information. Than I call to the gp , after waiting around 15 minutes on the line someone answer my call and ask my details which I gave everything. Do you know what the receptionist answer me after few minutes I was shocked. He said I never been registered with the gp. What a pathetic answer you heard when you risking your life because of COVID and want to speak with a doctor. This is what I experienced. What a nightmare. My wife was pregnant in 2018 she use the gp for her pregnancy reason while we both registered same day same time. When I need the go most in my life they said I am not registered with them. Can you believe it.such a pathetic experience

Thank you for taking the time to comment. Two things could have happened, an admin error where one registration was not added to the system or you were removed at some point. The NHS has a process for removing ‘ghost’ patients from GP practice lists. Ghost patients are patients that have moved abroad, should never have been registered, have passed away etc.. These patients, whilst on the GP’s list costs millions of pounds a year and are recalled for tests that are not needed. If you have registered and never had contact for years, it is likely at some point, that you have been classed as a potential ‘ghost’ patient. Patients are contacted by phone or letter before they are removed, but if addresses and numbers aren’t kept up-to-date we/the NHS can be trying to contact patients on the wrong details. I am sorry you have had this experience, but not being registered, does not mean you cannot register when you need services.
