I received my first Covid vaccine this evening. I have to admit to feeling anxious. From the moment I arrived at Holmhurst Medical Centre I felt reassured. I should have taken chocolate. It was late, it was dark and cold and damp and yet the volunter marshals were there as were the HMC staff. I was guided through the building by the marshals, checks were undertaken and information given. When I received the jab it was in an environment of calm, questions were asked, checks were made and I was given the opportunity to discuss any concerns. The injection was painless and then I was guided to a waiting area to sit for 15 minutes being observed by staff in case I felt unwell. Then when I was ready to leave I checked out with the nurse at the exit, just one more question to ensure that I felt well before going home. I am an NHS worker but non the less I feel lucky to have received the vaccine and to be cared for in such an efficint and caring environment. As I said at the start - I should have taken chocolate, not for me of course but for the workers. Thank you to all envolved.
