"Dealing with an accepting my PTSD."

About: Inclusion Thurrock (Talking Therapies)

(as a service user),

I had a mini break down and everything was falling apart, after a consultation it seemed that I had PTSD, something I hadn't expected.

Through weekly sessions from March - Decmeber I felt that I was really getting somewhere, I had to stop due to the pandemic and child care issues but I hope to start EMRD again soon and get back on track.

Dear Hannahbananna,

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us.

I am so sorry to hear that you felt as though everything was falling apart, often it is times like this that encourage us to reach out for support and I am so pleased that you did.

I think it is really interesting that you mention how you didn't expect to be told that you may have been experiencing symptoms of PTSD. This is really common as many clients do not realise exactly what they are going through until they have their assessment or first few therapy sessions. It is through these assessment stages where we can talk together in detail about what is going on for you and decide on the best possible support plan.

It is so good to hear that you felt as though you were making progress throughout your EMDR sessions with us. Even though you had to stop your sessions due to reasons that were outside of your control, I do hope that therapy has helped you a little for the time being and that you can return as soon as the time is right for you.

Please do get in touch when you would like to begin your therapy again, we understand that life does get in the way and sometimes, it isn't the right circumstances to engage with therapy. We hope to hear from you soon.

Take care.

Kind regards,

Jade
