I was in from 2003 to 2007.
Really helped me being there. I didn’t have a very experience on admissions ward but once moved to another ward my treatment went well. I was treated fairly and with respect. I made good relations with staff and patients. I felt Arnold ward was daunting and the staff never really interacted however the OT department was great with lots of activities and verbal interaction.
I moved to 4 hospitals over a period of 12 years and I now have absolute discharge and live a great life. Ashworth was my first hospital when I was very unwell and even though at the time I was lost with the interaction of therapy teams I found myself and now live a great life where I get married this year.
Having lots of departments like woodwork classes etc and the library and shop help your day to day living lead a life on a psychiatric unit.
I don’t know if the nurses I knew are still there but if they are I say thank you.
Be safe god bless
