About: Wilberforce Surgery

I didn’t even go into the centre due to current circumstances. Was referred to them by NHS 111 to be told but an abrupt receptionist that they don’t do referrals even though I have the text message. The person attitude on the phone made it sound like they couldn’t wait to get off the phone, twice telling me to hold on while they continued another discussion with someone else in the office. Complained at me because I was not registered with a GP even though I have explained that I don’t usually live in the UK. And then told me to wait for a call from a doctor, which came about 15 minutes later but the doctor then said that because I sounded feminine on the phone, that they wouldn’t speak with me. I finally managed to get them to listen to me and they just gave me some pills to ease a pain I’ve been having.

As much as in the end I got what I needed from them, they made me feel like a major inconvenience to them. I understand that they must be hounded with calls atm, but if you can’t take the pressure of answering the phone to sick people who need either advice or help, then maybe working in a doctors walk-in surgery isn’t for you.
