I attended the Minor Injuries unit at Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline at about 8pm during Dec 2020. I had cut my thumb, not serious or painful but too deep to deal with at home. At the intercom informing them of the situation I upfront said that I couldn't wear a face mask and asked if this would be a problem as I didn't have any covid symptoms but would be happy to wait outside. What followed was an abrupt interrogation, if I had an exemption on medical grounds etc. I asked if I was obliged to explain myself at which point 2 stern looking members of staff came out to the door to continue the interrogation and try to get me to 'just hold it in front of my face' (?) When I told them I was finding this distressing and just wanted to get my cut seen to if possible, one of the members of staff replied "No, you're not."
So I left. Inconveniencing the person that was driving for me, I then went to A&E at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy where again I upfront explained that I couldn't wear a mask but in this encounter, all the staff at the Vic were kind, respectful, professionals. I got my thumb fixed up and was out again in less than 30mins.
