"COVID-19 precautions"

About: Broomfield Hospital / Older people's healthcare

(as a relative),

My mother who has had three strokes and consequent onset dementia was admitted to Broomfield hospital about 8 weeks ago due to pains in her legs and developing frailty. She has managed to avoid this wretched COVID for the last nine months.

Her husband arranged to visit her in Braxted ward (ward for the elderly and therefore vulnerable) as up until then she was not allowed any visitors. He was told the day he was due to visit that he could no longer do so as the hospital were moving their Covid-19 ward to the ward opposite Braxted and would therefore be dangerous for him to be in that corridor!

One week later we are informed that she has now contracted Covid. I would be interested in your comments as I am devastated.
