I was discharged from the Ulster Hospital after spending two weeks in hospital being treated for clinical covid-19 and sepsis. On being discharged I was very weak, lost body fat and muscle wastage. It was like having to learn to walk again. I had a follow up at home from Gerard (physiotherapist). On his first visit he assessed me and gave me a few simple exercises. He also identified that I had 'drop foot'. One week later Gerard came to visit me at my home, bringing with him an AFO (Ankle foot orthosis). Gerard tailored the AFO to my foot and right shoe. This is a tremendous walking aid which has prevented my tripping, and has gave me the confidence to increase my walking distance.
Thank you Gerard and your team for the follow up.
