I had a great experience at the Borders General Hospital!
I went in to be induced in November as my waters broke on the day before. Abbie explained what she was going to do and just got on with it. I had the gel then went out for my lunch and came back and I had dilated very much, with my waters breaking the day before I couldn’t have the gel again so they gave me the drip. My contractions came on very very quick and Abbie helped me stay calm through it all. I managed to get to 5 or 6cm dilated and I couldn’t deal with the pain anymore so opted for an epidural. Abbie's shift ended and we got Morag; she was lovely when she checked me and said I was 10cm and the head was at the top I was so excited to meet my baby girl! The baby didn’t enjoy the pushing so Dr King asked me if I was okay with forceps, anything for my baby to arrive safe. The midwife Lesley helped her. With having the epidural I couldn’t feel my contractions so Morag helped me and told me when to push.
Once my baby arrived we went down to the ward and was looked after by Kerrie. She was lovely! I didn’t want to come home she helped me so much and we had a laugh! I was so nervous going into ward 16 by myself with a baby as this was my first & I had no idea what I was doing but they were amazing there! I had a shower and they watch Autumn for me, and helped me settle her.
The midwifes are amazing there!!
