"Trying to get an appointment"

About: General practices in Lanarkshire

(as a service user),

I've been trying all week to get an appointment for my daughter.

She works in a hospital and so is wearing a face mask for 12 hours a day, which has made her psoriasis on her face so much worse. She has used a strong steroid cream, but now that's only making it worse. She has tried everything, different creams and alternative medicines. It has gotten so bad that the consultants she is working with are turning around and telling her she needs to get it looked at.

We have both tried numerous times to get an appointment, we have tried sending photos, emails, tried explaining the situation; every time we just get told we need to phone tomorrow. When she works at the hospital, she can't very well take a break from seeing a patient to answer a call from the GP. She understands the covid situation and she would never do anything to put anyone at risk, but she needs to see her GP.

Dear tigerxn76

Thank you for posting details of your daughter's experience on Care Opinion. I was very sorry to read of the difficulties your daughter is currently having and can appreciate how frustrating it must be for her not being able to get an appointment with her GP, despite telephoning, emailing photographs and speaking to the receptionist to explain the situation.

Please be advised that GP’s are independent contractors and are responsible for investigating and responding to any concerns a person may have about their service; they are not registered to respond directly to feedback through Care Opinion. I would therefore suggest that you contact the Practice Manager if you would like a direct response about the service you and your daughter have experienced.

I hope that your daughter is able to secure a suitable appointment in the very near future and thanks again for taking the time to share your experience on Care Opinion.

Best wishes.

Lesley
