Refused seen for a possible chest infection because of COVID
My son has a terrible wheeze even through a stethoscope he struggles every year with croup. This year it sounds like it went straight for his wee chest. He is 5, his skin has went patchy and dry round his lips & face his lips are now turning pale pink with a see through colour to them. He is sweaty but only got a temp of 35. 2? He is starting to breath heavily like he needs more effort so I phone NHS to get him seen.
25 mins of waiting to get through then 10-16 minutes explaining he’s struggling into the nurse another 5-10 minutes to decide he’s still struggling. wait on a phone call appointment to say he will be seen, then to receive a phone call to say it’s the doctor and he’s not going to be seen because of COVID I feel like a proper useless mother, surely to god they have a duty of care to see him regardless of one symptom a cough! Which nearly every child suffers with at this WINTER time of year, now I’m expected to sit by his bed all night to watch get worse was the dr exact words, Perth PRI out of hours department many thanks
