Terrible patient experience when I attended ED today. I was left feeling as though I was a nuisance. Having been advised by 111 to go to ED and I was given an appointment, when I arrived, I overheard a staff member openly criticising 111’s decision for being able to book appointments. This was prior to me going into the ED. Then when I went into ED, staff behind the ED reception were making similar comments about how they don’t think 111 should be booking appointments for patients and how this is ridiculous.
A nurse was discussing a patient with the triage door open and said the patient was going to be admitted to gynaecology. I could see the patient they were on about.
The only persons with any compassion were the radiologist and radiology receptionist.
I will not be going back to this hospital in a hurry. I was in a lot of pain and was made to feel that I shouldn’t have bothered attending.
