"Care of my dad in his late 80s."

About: Cwm Taf University Health Board

(as a carer),

My dad who has vascular dementia was take into hospital after a series of falls which he had banged his head fair enough he was admitted to ward 18 care of the elderly which he has lost all use of his legs bless him and they told me that because his mobility was very poor it would be a long road for him to get back up on his feet.

This was fair enough but then only for me to get a phone call to say he was going to be moved to ward 11 surgical ward which he didn’t need anything surgically done in the mean time physically he was unable to walk and to top it all after 3 weeks on a surgical ward which he shouldn’t been on they discharged him at 6. 30 at night in the freezing cold with just a pyjama bottom on and a jumper not even a blanket.  He was so confused and unaware of where he was when he got home to me and his mobility is a 0 even the ambulance crew couldn’t hold him up without having a major sweat and being breathless.

I could go on but I’m here to tell you shame on you ward 11 princess of wales hospital me and my family will be taken the care you give my dad further, we are so happy to have him home so we can care for him the way he should be cared for first thing in the morning which he has asked for is a wash and a shave we couldn’t do it tonight because bless him he was so tired and confused bless him😡😡😡
